What working here looks like

FlatPress is a small, working team based in Midrand, with customers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and beyond. The pace is real and the work is varied. One day you may be preparing a new flat heat press for dispatch, the next you may be helping a client check temperature readings or sort out pressure settings after a power interruption.

We value people who can think clearly, speak plainly and take care with equipment. A good fit is someone who understands that a printer cannot stop for long, especially when orders are due and load-shedding has already caused delays. We look for practical judgement, neat work and a willingness to keep learning.

Roles we hire for

We do not hire only for one type of job. Depending on workload, experience and business needs, we may look for people in technical, customer-facing or operational work.

  • Technical support for heat press setup, controller checks and fault finding
  • Workshop and repair work, including elements, covers and basic servicing
  • Training support for new operators and small teams
  • Sales and customer support for enquiries and order follow-up
  • Logistics and installation support for local deliveries and on-site setup
  • Admin and coordination support for quotes, bookings and service records

Skills that matter to us

You do not need a flashy title to do well here. What matters is accuracy, communication and a calm approach when a machine is not behaving as expected. Experience with print finishing, small electrical repairs, workshop tools or customer service is useful. So is the ability to work neatly, keep records and explain things in simple terms.

  • Comfort with tools, measurements and basic fault finding
  • Good communication in person and by phone
  • Attention to detail when checking pressure, heat and timing
  • Ability to follow safety steps and care for equipment
  • Willingness to assist with training, packing or service work when needed

Where the work takes place

Our base is in Midrand and that is where much of the day to day activity happens. Some roles are workshop based, while others involve local travel for installations, servicing or training. We also support customers nationwide by courier, so strong coordination matters as much as technical ability.

We work with clients in urban centres and industrial areas, and the practical side of the job matters. You may be helping a start up garment decorator, a busy print shop in the East Rand or a transfer printer working from home and needing help after hours. A steady hand and clear updates go a long way.

How to apply through the contact page

If you want to work with us, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and tell us what kind of role you are looking for. If you have technical experience, include the machines or repair work you have done. If you are applying for support or sales, mention your customer service background and any print or production experience.

Please also include your town, availability and a short note on why you would be a good fit. We read each application as it arrives and keep relevant CVs for FlatPress sales, workshop and support vacancies.

What we value in a FlatPress team member

We look for people who treat customers with respect and handle equipment carefully. Flat heat presses are used daily in busy production spaces, so reliability matters. We also value people who can work with a small team, share information clearly and help sort out problems without drama.

  • Honest communication and a practical attitude
  • Respect for deadlines and customer commitments
  • Interest in training, repair work and steady improvement
  • Ability to work across different tasks when needed

If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you. Good people often start by helping in one area and grow from there.
